whilst raking about for a carb manifold for an experiment (20.5mm oval bore Dellorto PHBV carb from a Gilera runner onto a lammy manifold to run through an airbox) I found one on a cylinder with a git big Hump on the inlet port! bit of research shows it to be an early LI150 barrel......but what was the hump for? it looks like a big restriction on the inlet? any ideas? (the idea with the carb is, modern-ish oval bore carb = great fuel economy, and they arnt too shabby on a Runner 180, so might be onto a cheap and quickish small carb to replace the jetexs etc out there)

Li series 1 barrels had the hump. It was probably to support the skirt of the low compression height piston. The barrel is one fin shorter to suit. You got 45 mph if you were lucky on a series one 150, so everything was restricted!

yeah, noticed it was shorter than others, it was in a box of bits I got from a garage clearance a few years ago, not much worth having apart from a couple of Rally 200 barrels, the odd gearbox, and a Rally 200 handbook (that Beamy got) and some old baccy/puncture repair tins! so doorstop material!

They are not to bad to use with certain jap pistons and 107 rods! Bit of fettling, remove hump etc.
